  1. line of symmetry- a line that divides a figure into two congruent parts, each of which is the mirror image of the other

  2. dilation- a transformation in which a figure is enlarged or reduced using a scale factor, without altering the center

    ReplyDelete
  3. What you mean by reduced using a scale facto without altering the center? I don't understand what that means

  4. Translation- Means Moving, what I mean by this is that the shape is not rotating, flipping or turning it just mean slide without changing anything of the shape here is two image of what I mean: click the link: http://www.onlinemathlearning.com/image-files/translation-g5.jpg and the second image http://image.tutornext.com/cms/images/41/translations.gif

  5. A scale factor measures how large or how small a figure is. For example, if the scale factor is 2, the figure would increase by 2. The center of dilation doesn't change when it's being dilated

  6. But isn't it changing cause dilated mean expand or become larger ??

    1. Never mind Destiny I read over what you wrote and it does make sense thx

  7. rotation symmetry:If a figure matches itself a number of times while it is being turned about a point, then it is said to have Rotational Symmetry.

  8. According to what Destiny said I just added an Image: Dilation: Means to make a shape smaller or bigger. No matter what the shape would stay the same when changing the size. An example: http://mathforum.org/sanders/imath/i-dila.gif this image show that size no matter it would still be the same if only size change.

  9. Center Of Rotation- In a rotation, the point that does not move. The rest of the plane rotates around this one fixed point.

  10. Image- the new position of a point, a line, a line segment, or a figure after a transformation

  11. Preserved means maintaining (something) in its original or existing state. For example a square can be preserved because nomatter if u rotate it flip or turn it stay in its original image basically how it originally looks

  12. an easier way to remember preserved Is to think of preserved food meaning keeping it in its original form keeping fresh

  13. transformation-Moving a shape so that it is in a different position, but still has the same size, area, angles and line lengths.

  14. Moving a shape so that it is in a different position, but still has the same size, area, angles and line lengths.
Turn, flip or slide are the basic moves. This is an example of a turn (rotational) transformation.

  15. Line Of Symmetry- An immaginary line which divides an image into two halfs which one half is a reflection of the other.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Pre-image: A pre-image is the original object, which when reflected produces the image.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dilation (Dilate)- When a polygon grows or shrinks but keeps the same overall shape

    ReplyDelete
  18. so how does the scale factor help determine the image
